About Curly Eye

Curly Eye is owned and operated by Gary and Mary Licklider in rural Boone County, Missouri. Curly Eye offers alpaca sales and boarding, quality alpaca products, and friendly service and support for new owners.

We built a barn, wrestled fencing into dry Boone County clay, and bought our first alpacas in 2002. Mary tells visitors that the worst thing about getting into alpacas was putting in fence and then heartily recommends that new owners hire a fencing contractor.

The farm’s name came out of Gary’s woodworking hobby/business. He makes decorative wood boxes from curly maple and bird’s eye maple, and the box business was already called Curly Eye. When the alpacas arrived with their big eyes and long lashes, it seemed obvious that we should keep the same name for the alpaca business.
